Michael Caulfield MSc
Thank you for visiting Just Caulfield and I hope my work is of interest to you, your team or organisation.
I am one of the most experienced Sports Psychologists in the UK, with over 30 years working in sport, business and academia, with a lifetime of experiences to share with you.
After fifteen years as Chief Executive of the Professional Jockeys Association (PJA), I retrained as a Sports Psychologist as having worked with that extraordinary group of sportsmen and women, it was clear that so many athletes, managers, coaches, executives and just about any profession you care to think of, require support to help them perform and cope with the many challenges we all face in life.
I’ve had some extraordinary luck over the years to work with some remarkable people and teams, some of whom have kindly commented on my work for this site. I also had the good fortune of working at the leading training consultancy Sporting Edge for many years, but the time is now right to forge my own path. Just Caulfied, is just that.
I will be concentrating on working with people, teams, organisations to help them to fulfil their potential in their chosen field. That may be at the highest possible level imaginable on the global stage, through to people who just want to enjoy what they do, at whatever level appeals to them.
I have been fortunate to travel extensively working in many sporting disciplines and competitions, speaking at conferences, studying areas of human performance that have led me to this point. It is also not a trail of spectacular success, far from it. There have been some wonderful triumphs from Lord’s to Wembley, via Bangalore and Brisbane, but also some major disappointments and losses which are hard to shake off, but vital for learning.
My work will focus on four key areas highlighted on this site. Helping teams and organisations to fulfil their potential and helping them reveal those blind spots, of the small things that stop them performing. Working one on one with athletes, coaches, managers, performers, executives as there is still nothing more powerful than a trusted conversation. Speaking at conferences, events, seminars and academic institutions with a different look at the world of performance and psychology. And then sharing my insights on radio and other broadcast mediums as I want to bring psychology to life, with humour too.
So please do get in touch, enquire, ask a question and let’s share and learn as we go along. You may also notice that my old faithful dog, Shankly, appears on this site, and why not. Named after one of the great leaders in sport, he and I have never walked alone.
I look forward to hearing from you.
